28 Ago “Les temps perdus” by Julian Santos
Losing oneself in a character’s memories is one of the most powerful things that art can do. Like in Marcel Proust’s “À la recherche du temps perdu” – to which the title certainly refers, in a very delicate tribute to one of the most important works in human history -, Julian Santos tells the story of an englishman on vacation that falls in love with a french girl and about their time together, delving into the memory of the man and reconstructing the sweet details.
It is a tender film that is well acted, even if shot on a very low budget, rendered magically by the use of beautiful locations and magical urban landscapes. The score makes the strongest sequences heartfelt and tender. In the end, we wonder what other memories could have followed the ones that we saw in the film.
