“This Case & My Life” follows the complicated life of Chris Roberts, a successful New York lawyer. The delicate intersection between career and private life is in fact crossed by the torments and desires of the people closest to Chris. In this profoundly human drama, it is easy to recognize oneself a little in all the protagonists of this story. In fact, the director Ana P. Braunstein has the great merit of having been able to make the emotions told in this film vivid and multifaceted. The screenplay (also signed by Braunstein) laid the foundations for a profound and sensitive film about life and the direction manages to emphasize the rhythm and the engaging expressiveness of the narrative material.
The evident absence of adequate technical means while limiting the potential of the staging does not prevent Braunstein from reaching the hearts of the spectators, certainly thanks to the sincerity of his vision and an excellent sense of the cinematographic story. The actors support the emotional breadth of the script well and extend the boundaries of the word to an engaging and fascinating physicality. We hope to see a new Braunstein film soon that can better combine exciting content with more in-depth formal research.
