Combining different techniques of editing and filming, with the use of a very simple and effective mise-en-scene, “Hake” by Dino Longo Sabanovic fulfills its goal of representing greatly the pain that comes with post-traumatic stress disorder with war events.
Events that sometimes never fade and continue to linger in your mind even decades after they’re over. The director, with the use of non-professional actor, still pulled a great metaphor of this condition using sound as the main elements of remembrance and memory, creating a character that is lost in the past and will find himself again in a great, cathartic ending that touches our hearts.
